DJ
Lus comes from Lawrence, MA just north of Boston.
He started to deejay at the age of 16, after being
influenced by his uncle who was a deejay. Lus
began at an early age entertaining others, whether
it was live or pre-recorded. He enjoys mixing
and scratching records, but greatly loves music
itself. He was also influenced by deejays such
as Funkmaster Flex, Jam Master Jay, Tony Touch,
Dowoop, Ron G, Kid Capri, Craig G and other local
deejays, which Lus has come to greatly appreciate.
He
grew up listening to mixtapes, which then got
him into producing his own projects. In 1999 Lus
put out his first local mixtape. It turned out
to be successful. It was then when he began taking
his music career very seriously at the age of
18. While attending high school, he found time
to practice and time to deejay parties. His parties
created a buzz for him as well as his mixtapes
did too. His original techniques gave him the
opportunities to deejay at clubs and to open for
major acts such as Sean Paul, M.O.P, Funkmaster
Flex, Joe Buddens and Lumidee.
As his hype kept building, more doors opened.
This led him into bigger and better things. He
then became part of a deejay crew out of NYC called
T.N.G (The Nations Greatest). Being part of this
crew helped the distribution of his mixtapes in
New York, surrounding states and official websites,
such as Mixtapekingz.com and Mixunit.com. Lus
continued to deejay at clubs. He also had the
opportunity to work with a previous employee from
Jamn 94.5 Boston, Kobe. Lus and Kobe developed
a working relationship in and outside the music
scene. He felt Lus was talented and he wanted
to help him achieve his goals. Kobe not only got
Lus more gigs but also let him in on a few things
that showed him how to become more involved with
the music industry. Kobe also introduced Lus to
DJ Roy Barboza, a mixer coordinator at Jamn 94.5.
DJ
Roy Barboza then approached Lus about becoming
a member of his crew, the 45crew. Shortly after
becoming a member of the 45crew Lus was offered
a slot in Boston's number one HipHop radio station,
WJMN. He now has his own show every week, The
Saturday Night Bomb, from 12-2AM. This makes him
one of the youngest mixers across the nation.
After being on the radio Lus has had the opportunity
to work with Funkmaster Flex, Juel Santana, Memphis
Bleek, Jin, Red Cafe, and Mr.Vegas. His Deejay
career has taken him to places like Canada, NY,
ME, NH, RI, CT, FL and Puerto Rico. His creativity
and ability to mix, blend and scratch records
gives him a unique style as well as setting him
apart from other deejays. |
